Eigen’s team have all held senior roles (start-up, SME, corporate, and investors) across a broad range of sectors and have extensive experience in low-carbon innovation and adoption, technology and IP commercialisation, investor readiness and pro-active business support and coaching.

Our Management Team

  • Mark is the founder of Eigen Ventures, working with public sector bodies, industry, SMEs and entrepreneurs. He has led and delivered major UK innovation programmes, including BEIS Net Zero Innovation Portfolio Acceleration Services, UKRI Energy Catalyst Accelerator, and Energy Systems Catapult’s Energy Launchpad. Since 2006, he has supported over 400 cleantech SMEs. Mark co-founded FlexLondon for the GLA, helping major energy users connect with 100 flexibility innovators. Formerly Managing Partner of a consultancy he grew to £1.6m revenue, he has also been CEO of a University of Surrey spin-out and Investment Manager for a NZ VC fund investing NZ$35m in tech ventures.

  • An experienced commercial manager specialising in the area of business development for early-stage technology. Michael led the commercial roll-out of a novel RUO medical technology in Europe and North America and launched an associated pharma services business. He has provided mentoring and commercial acceleration support to a wide range of low carbon technologies (including marine, heat and power, agri-tech, hydrogen). Michael has the ability to rapidly understand new technologies and markets, secure valuable commercial partnerships, negotiate and close out deals, and brings a versatile and hands-on approach to making things happen

  • Entrepreneurial business builder, advisor and programme manager with 25 years’ experience commercialising technologies and creating market impact. Skilled in business development, value proposition design, investment raising, financial modelling, deal negotiation, IPR management and partnership building, with a foundation in R&D and manufacturing. Known for a personable, consensus-based approach combined with strong results focus. Passionate about supporting technology ventures delivering environmental, healthcare and social benefits. Expertise includes commercialisation strategy, mentoring, partnerships, cleantech innovation and ecosystem building.

  • Ross is Commercial Director of Eigen Ventures. He was previously Head of Ventures at the Carbon Trust and Principal for Smart Energy Europe at Frost & Sullivan. With over 17 years’ experience in strategy consulting and delivering large-scale innovation programmes, Ross advises technology start-ups, corporates, and governments on transformation and growth strategies, primarily in the energy sector. His programmes have supported around 400 climate tech SMEs globally to commercialise, scale, and maximise impact.

  • 30-year international career in Business Development, Finance and General management across energy and process sectors. Worked for Deutsche bank, BP and Jera. Recently advised DESNZ on HAR competitions for subsidising green hydrogen production and advised floating OSW developer on £3bn debt finance.

  • 25 years investment and innovation experience across venture capital, start-ups, growth businesses and listed equities. He has personally managed investment of £25m with co-investment of £170m into 15 low carbon/clean tech companies. Founding Partner of 350IP LLP which invested approximately £60m into over 35 early-stage companies. Previously with Carbon Trust, Coller Capital, and Flemings Investment Management.

    Skills/ expertise: investment planning; expert investor readiness coaching; business support programmes in cleantech/clean-energy.

  • 30 years’ experience in energy systems design, innovation, operation and regulation at EDF Energy Networks and UK Power Networks. Advisor on the Energy Data Task Force report to Ofgem/BEIS. Assessor for RIUK on the Strategic Innovation Fund.

    Skills/ Expertise: regulatory and commercial guidance for innovation within energy networks including micro-grids, energy storage technologies

  • 20 years’ working with innovator-SMEs, University spin-outs and corporate venturing units. He has set-up and programme managed multiple business incubation services and has delivered incubation support to over 200 companies for Innovate UK, BEIS and Scottish Enterprise. David’s early career included 10 years in quantitative analysis and product innovation in the banking sector in Paris, London and Japan.

    Skills/ Expertise: Development of financial models, investment readiness support, supporting seed finance raise for digital and climatetech companies
